Moments in Time, recorded, never to be repeated in quite the same way. Fleeting moments, soon to become History, then Legend and eventually Myth.

JOEL McDONALD
Photographer

This informal portfolio features a limited collection of photographic work, but a wide variety of both digital and film based images from the past 30 years. Since his earliest days Joel has been making images of diverse subject matter.

Influenced early on by the images of Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn and the like, his passion has always been primarily with the photographing of women. Especially with the eyes. Several albums in this portfolio celebrate his appreciation of the visual qualities of women. But as one can see in the albums available to date, his photographic interests are quite diverse and very eclectic.

Throughout his adult life Joel has felt a need to record the things he's seen and the desire to share the moments that made an impact on him. Whether during Air Ops aboard an Aircraft Carrier as a U.S. Navy Journalist, or on numerous treks abroad, as a magazine publisher in Atlanta, or in the studio, Joel has made a visual record of his experiences and observations.

He's admired the works of Margaret Bourke-White, Ansel Adams, Peter Gowland and yes, Annie Leibovitz. And while not at the caliber of these greats he does consider his work quite suitable for viewing by those who can appreciate the images for what each represents, simply 'moments in time' that caught one photographer's eye.

This online portfolio is in continual flux. Always being added to. Thanks for visiting. Your comments are welcome.
